Herb Walks

Wild medicines of the field and forest
Watch out for that weed under your foot, it’s actually a medicinal herb!

Join herbalist Savayda Jarone on this experiential and informative journey into two wild and natural herbal habitats right here in the city.

On these walks you will learn how to identify, harvest, and make medicine with several medicinal “weeds”. We will use plant attunement, among other things, as a method for becoming acquainted with the medicine and personalities of the plants we meet.

Tuesday, June 24
Fort Needham Park

Thursday, June 26th
Point Pleasant Park

Time: 6:30 – 8:30 p.m.

Cost: $15 each or both for $25

Bring a journal for writing and drawing. Different herbs will be identified at each site

For information and to pre-register call: 454-8481 or e-mail wildoats@ns.sympatico.ca

Local herbalist, Savayda Jarone, is a member of the Friends of McNabs Island Society (www.mcnabsisland.ca) and has been enjoying the delights of the island for many years. She is wild about leading herb walks on McNabs and elsewhere in the city and province. Her experience shows her that people feel more enriched and connected to nature by knowing the plants that grow around them.

On this walk you will learn to identify wild medicinal foods and herbs and learn how to use them.

When: Saturday, July 5th (rain date July 6th)

Where: Meet at the commercial boat dock on McNabs Island

Time: 6 – 8 p.m.
