First Sessions start at 1:30pm

Woodland Weed Walk

Become acquainted or deepen your friendship with our woodland plants, and learn more of their medicinal  properties. Jeanette Poirier has been hanging out with plants, both wild and tame, for over 50 years, and has recently completed her training as a clinical herbal therapist.

Herbal Energetics

Learn how to build a herbal formula based on the principles of herbal energetics.  Explore and compare Ayurveda, and Western holistic medicine as practiced by the 17th century herbalist, Nicholas Culpeper. Savayda Jarone CHT, MNIMH - Medical Herbalist is owner of The Herbal Medicine Clinic and Dispensary in Halifax where she practices holistic medicine based on modern herbalism and the traditional healing systems of Europe and India.

Second Sessions start at 2:45pm

Plant Medicine Walk

Together we will walk in the open wild and cultivated spaces, meet and greet the local plants, learn of their healing gifts, and connect with earth medicine using all the senses. Danette Steele, BA, MA, RH, Clinical Herbalist. Danette weaves together traditional wisdom with current science-based research in her teaching and her practice of herbal medicine. Danette teaches the Herbal Foundations course and has a growing clinical practice in both Halifax and Toronto.

Herbs for Women's Health

We will wander in the beautiful gardens visiting the many plants that aid and support womens cycles. Lois Hare, N.D. Lois graduated from the Canadian College of Naturopathic Medicine in 1987. She has had a life long friendship with plant medicine beginning in childhood with her herbalist/midwife Great Aunt Nell.

Third Sessions start at 4pm

Medicine Making

In this workshop you will meet some of the more common plants found in your backyard and watch how they can be transformed into tinctures, vinegars, oils, and ointments.  We will make a lip balm together that you can take home with you. Elizabeth Mills and Erica deSousa have been

studying and making herbal medicines for many years.

Plants at Risk

With an increase in the use of herbal medicine comes and increase impact of our wild populations of herbs. Join Cheendana in seeing a video of United Plant Savers, meet a few of the at risk plants, and learn about ethical harvesting. Cheendana (Lorie-Ann Martin MT), a massage therapist and at home herbalist, has been a member of United Plant Saver for several years and has a keen interest in knowing about the impact of herbal medicine on our wild plant populations.
