A Medicine Walk for Healing and Wellness
|
A Medicine Walk adds an extra dimension to a field walk
experience. It is a wholistic adventure, in which plants, trees, breathing, visualization, and other elements come together for a wellness experience. In this Medicine Walk, Laurie will share his knowledge of plants and trees, of personal medicine power, and bring it together so that participants experience a sense of wellness and balance. |

Join Natasha and Shirlie in a hands on workshop. We will be making
a herbal bug spray and a herbal anti-itch ointment. We will also be discussing making tinctures, vinegars and oils.

In this workshop we will explore herbal tonics with known cancer preventative properties, and how to incorporate them into daily life |

Akhtar Abbasi has taken course in "Flora of Nova Scotia" from Dalhousie. He is a member of 'Halifax field naturalists' and 'Wild Flora society'. He has been hiking around and identifying native Nova Scotian plants, shrubs & trees for last few years. |

Rita Baruss is a gardener, a Light Worker and a shamanic practitioner who communicates regularily with Plant Spirits. |

BIO- A documentary filmmaker, musician, and gardening-based community developer, Oren has also been a serious student of herbal medicine for several years. He is currently studying to become a herbal practitioner. |

Herbal Medicine and Cancer Prevention

Medical Herbalist and Fertility Awareness Educator Savayda has been in practice for nine years and has a clinic and dispensary in Halifax. Education is one of her greatest passions - in the clinic, the class room and the outdoors. She teaches regular workshops, a year-long course, and leads herb walks. As if she isn't excited enough about her work, she also pours her heart into fertility awareness and cancer prevention; she teaches workshop on both and recently joined the board of the national movement called Prevent Cancer Now. She is also a member of the Canadian Council of Herbalist Associations, which deals with political and professional development for herbal medicine practitioners in Canada. |
Laurie Lacey is the author of Micmac Medicines: Remedies and Recollections, and Medicine Walk: Reconnecting With Mother Earth. He is a Naturalist and Traditional Medicine Maker, and has been involved with Native Medicines for the past 34 years. |

Shirlie Williamson has been studying the magic and medicine of plants for more than ten years. She follows a pagan, basically Wiccan, spiritual path and tries to incorporate herbs into her daily life and spiritual practices. Shirlie is a member of the Board of Directors of HANS. |

Dr. Robin Wu, a traditional Chinese doctor from Taiwan, is a registered acupuncturist in NS. Dr. Wu has been running Robin's Clinic of Traditional Chinese Medicine Inc. in Halifax since March 2007.
