VOLUNTEER OPPORTUNITIES HANS is a completely volunteer-run organization at present. It relys solely on the dedication and hard work of its board of directors, committee members, and other volunteers to run the many wonderful events and celebrations. We have the following established committees but are always open to suggestions for new committees. If you feel HANS could benefit from another committee or work effort, please contact us! Active HANS Committees:
Communication/ Outreach/ Membership Committee- This committee is tasked with communication/ outreach/ PR/ membership/ media and fundraising. Some of the projects we have completed or are currently working on include website, listserve and e-newsletter. We are looking for people interested in organizing information for media or event presentations. Education and Events Committee- This committee is tasked with providing educational opportunities for general and professional members and the public. Events include the Annual Herb Fair, Plant Circles and professional development seminars. We are looking for people that enjoy the outcomes of organizing large or small events. Organizational Development Committee- This committee is tasked with ensuring that HANS functions as smoothly and as optimally as possible by reviewing and providing recommendations for policies, procedures and by-laws. Tasks include developing board and membership packages and by-law and policy strategies. In the future we are planning regular board/committee orientation and visioning events. We are looking for people with good organizational skills and have an interest in policy development. Politics/ Standards Committee- This committee is tasked with staying current about natural products and regulatory issues and developing standards of practice and conduct for herbal practitioners in NS. This committee represents HANS on the Canadian Council of Herbalist Associations. In the future we will be working towards health professional status with provincial regulatory bodies. We are looking for professional herbalists & those interested in laws, regulations & standards pertaining to them. |
